The highly anticipated UFC 323 event on Dec. 6, 2025 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas got the SHHS community talking. For the bantamweight main event, Merab Dvalishvili fought against Petr Yan. In the flyweight co-main event, Alexandre Pantoja competed against Joshua Van. These two title fights were full of surprises and they brought out the energy of the audience.
The fighters that fought in the main event were Merab Dvalishvili and Petr Yan. Dvalishvili was the bantamweight champion and Yan was the challenger in this fight. Petr Yan was the underdog and he dominated Merab from the beginning of the fight to the end of the fight, resulting in him winning by unanimous decision. Yan regained his title and this made him a two-time bantamweight champion.
The fighters that fought in the co-main event were Alexandre Pantoja and Joshua Van. Pantoja was the flyweight champion and Van was the challenger in this fight. Pantoja unfortunately suffered an elbow dislocation after he threw a head kick that got stuck on Van’s shoulder, causing him to fall awkwardly on his arm. The fight only lasted 26 seconds because of this injury. Pantoja was not able to continue and Van was the winner making him the new flyweight champion.
Jayden Phan (11) is a big fan of Joshua Van and he shared how he felt about his favorite fighter winning the title, he also shared how he felt about the outcome of the main event, which shocked many people because Merab was a dominant champion.
“I think that he deserves it more than anyone else and I was happy about him winning, [for the main event] I had Merab winning and I think that everyone did but it was a pleasant surprise to see Yan win,” Phan said.
Aidan Wiley (11) shared how disappointed he was about the injury that Pantoja endured and he also shared his thoughts about Van.
“I was not happy, and I don’t think Van deserved the belt, and I had Pantoja by submission in the first round,” Wiley said.
He also shared his opinion on Merab’s position in the title contention conversation, and he shared his prediction on who is next in line for the title shot.
“I think Merab will have to at least fight two more fights before he gets another title shot and I think the winner of Umar vs. Figueiredo will get the next title shot,” Wiley said.
Xavier Rivera (11) explained that he was disappointed with the outcome of the main event and that he is anticipating a rematch between the two fighters.
“I was sad because Merab lost, and he is one of my favorite fighters, and I think they should run it back, and I have Merab winning that fight,” Rivera said.
