After a long four-year break, Harry Styles is officially back. On March 6, Styles released his fourth studio album, the 12-track “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.” Styles broke his silence on Dec. 27, 2025 by releasing an eight-minute video titled “Forever, Forever.” The album is a dynamic mix of genres, drawing on disco, pop, and pop-rock while maintaining Styles’ distinct artistic identity. The album explores themes of time, love, and personal growth, rooted in his experiences during his break and his development as an artist. As a longtime fan since his “One Direction” days, I’ve seen Styles evolve through different phases, and this album feels like his most emotionally authentic work yet.
“Aperture,” the album’s opening track, was released on Jan. 22. The track gave listeners their first taste of the album’s disco-inspired rhythms while signaling a new direction for Styles as he blends upbeat production with deeper emotional undertones. The track opens with distorted sounds that flow smoothly into an EDM-inspired beat that echoes within the song. The electric sounds and layered beats make it danceable and create a rich sense of depth.
One track that caught my attention was the eighth song, “Coming Up Roses.” With its warm and catchy melody, smooth vocals, and soft instrumental backdrop, the track explores the vulnerability or emotional uncertainty of a complicated relationship. “Tell me your fears. I’ve turned back the clock, it’s that time of year. If we stay the course, we could get it right” is what Styles opens the song with.
Throughout the album, there are more upbeat songs such as “Pop,” “Dance No More,” and “Ready, Steady, Go!” Each one of these songs carry their own funky beat, bringing that energetic pull that balances out the style of the album. The liveliness makes them stand out as the more fun songs which makes it more enjoyable for whoever is listening.
Another standout song is the fourth song on the album, “American Girls.” The song carries out its soft pop-rock tune and is overall about a girl who carries herself with confidence, symbolizing her youth and freedom. “It’s like being truly vulnerable with someone, like sharing a life with someone like that. Having the time to stop and assess all of it and really look at my life from a bird’s eye view and go, ‘What do I actually want in my life?’ The song to me is actually quite a lonely song in a lot of ways,” Styles said.
Overall, I believe that this album marks the beginning of a new chapter in Styles’ career and shows how much he has matured as an artist. Rather than repeating beats and flows like newer artists today, Styles dares to take creative risks and proves that he has what it takes to make great music.
