On Tuesday, September 9, South Hills varsity volleyball successfully continued their streak of defending the Queens of Cameron title against West Covina.
Middle Eliana Burciaga (10) reflected on their sweet victory at Queens of Cameron and what it meant to their team and their season.
“The key to winning [Queens of Cameron] this year would have to be working together as a team and not losing focus on our goal,” Burciaga said. “As we head into the league this week, it helps us to play well together and build that team involvement and take that with us for the season.”
Middle Jayda Carter (12) shared her perspective on the key to winning the game and reflected on how the victory set the tone for how successful the team wants to be for the remainder of the season.
“I think the key to winning QOC was maintaining high energy and support throughout the whole game, to block out outside distractions from the loud cheers of the game, and focus on getting as much points as possible,” Carter said. “We can remember the high energy, support, and joy after winning the game to motivate us to continue to win.”
Maddy Montiel (11) reflected on moments during the game where she was worried about the score.
“There were multiple moments where I was scared of the score. I feel like at one point it was going back and forth and they got close but we closed it out as we should,” Montiel said.
