In 2024-25, 26-year-old singer-songwriter Doechii rapidly rose to prominence in the music industry. After signing with Top Dawg (TDE) Entertainment, she gained widespread recognition and reached a career milestone with her performance at the Grammy Awards.
Doechii first started her music career as an independent artist, dropping a self-funded mixtape “Oh The Places You’ll Go” in 2020, which got attention from larger labels after it went viral. In 2022, she was able to further her career by signing with the label Top Dawg Entertainment.
“Oh the Places You’ll Go,’ that was me 100 percent independently. I spent every last dime I had on that project. I came up with all of the concepts. I hired the team. I bought the studio. I drove the U-Haul truck to go take the props out. I did everything by myself at that time,” Doechii said.
After joining Top Dawg Entertainment, Doechii continued to build on her momentum with more successful singles and features. Tracks like “Persuasive” and “Crazy” showcased her ability to blend melodic hooks with high-energy rap verses, proving her versatility as an artist. Her collaborations with notable artists, including SZA, Rico Nasty, and Isaiah Rashad, helped widen her audience and establish her as a force to be reckoned with in the hip-hop and alternative R&B landscape.
Doechii’s rise to fame was proven when she received recognition from the Grammy Awards. Her new and fresh sounds and compelling storytelling earned her a nomination for Best Rap Album, reinforcing her status as a rising force in the music industry. This milestone placed her in the conversation alongside some of the biggest names in music. The Grammy Award solidified her ability to push creative boundaries and appeal to many audiences with her unapologetic personality.
