After four years of participation on South Hills’ soccer team, captains Isaiah Gallardo, Joseph Puga, Roberto Barajas, & Jeremy Gonzalez were able to enjoy a night dedicated to them and their fellow senior teammates on January 31. They each recalled memorable times they’ve had throughout the years and how they celebrated senior night.
Isaiah Gallardo (12) explained that many doubted the team’s potential for success. Despite the criticism, he found motivation in ultimately proving his critics wrong by making it to CIF this year.

“I feel we did great this season, we worked as a team and I feel it was one of our best years together as a team. It was nice winning most of the games that I played,” Gallardo said.
Joseph Puga (12) explained what it means to be a senior on the team and what he enjoyed most while playing on the field.

“Being a leader and a captain as a senior is pretty special, the excitement and the adrenaline of being there and getting ready is fun,” Puga said.
Jeremy Gonzalez (12) explained what he enjoyed most of his senior night and how special it was to him.

“My favorite part of my senior night was probably, towards the end where I walked out with my family, that was really nice since they’re usually on the bleachers and not the field,” Gonzalez said.
Roberto Barajas (12) explained how he felt this was just “one last ride” and expressed how he had fun and a desired last great season. He explained what he will miss most once he leaves South Hills.

“I’ll miss hanging out with the boys after school and being able to practice with them for three hours and being able to go out and get dinner or something, it just overall felt like a family,” Barajas said.
