What makes people happy? Is it their hobbies, being alone, or being around the people they love? Why do these things or people make them happy? Are they constantly happy, or do they pretend as if everything is fine? Sophomores Valentina Hernandez, Stanley Ta, and Victoria Martinez shared their opinions about what makes people genuinely happy.
Valentina Hernandez was asked the question, “are you genuinely happy, or do you pretend that everything is okay when in reality it’s not?” Her response provides us a lens towards her life, and how ignoring the problem is easier than acknowledging it.
“It’s easier for me to live a normal life and if it’s just these couple of days, it’s easier that way than to try to solve this problem to wait for me to be happy again,” Hernandez said.
Stanley Ta, is a basketball player who is known as an outgoing and genuine person. There isn’t a day where you’ll see him not laughing and smiling with his friends. He was asked “what makes people feel truly happy?”
“Your family should always make you happy, if you ever need somebody to go to you should always go to your parents or siblings. Friends are your second family, they’re there for you,” Ta said.
Although family and friends may not be the the only reason that make people happy, these two reasons appeared to stick out the most for many.
Victoria Martinez is a volleyball player who loves her friends, family, dogs, and music. Martinez was asked “why do these things or people make you happy?”
“My family [members] are loving, my friends make me laugh, and music makes me dance,” Martinez said.
